~~
doing housework can be therapeutic.
- a certain friend, who nickname sounds like the noise a farm animal makes.
~~
conditions necessary for a fulfilling housework session:
(1) empty house (read: void of any traces of homo sapiens, but not furniture. the house has to have furniture in order for housework to be done)
(2) dirty house (if the house has just been cleaned the day before, then no point lah.. not shiok)
(3) good stereo (to blast out happening music. this ties in with the title of this entry)
(4) inspiration to do housework (either translated from constant naggings by parents; or you juz feel like doing housework the moment you got up from [usu the wrong side] bed)
factors to be present in the songs-to-belt-out-to-when-doing-housework:
(1) not too noisy lah (ie. not rock songs - coz will fight with the vacuum cleaner sound to make the whole place very noisy. noisy + dirty (house) + sweaty (you) = doesnt dat make it seem very much like a construction site? so no no..)
(2) preferably chinese (juz a personal preference - more shiok when belting them out)
(3) muz have a crescendo (for the linguistically-challenged, go check it up yourself [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crescendo].. hahah. aiyah, it juz means the song builds up to a climax when its very shiok to sing and/or shout to. 高潮, you know.. like the abovementioned forever love by leehom)
how to sing to the songs-to-belt-out-to-when-doing-housework:
(1) basically, there's only ONE step - VACUUM. here's why..
(A) it creates the sound/noise necessary for you to belt out your songs - it makes it seem like you are holding a solo concert + your (not so) good singing will be appropriately drowned in the sound/noise of the vacuum cleaner, esp when you hit those high notes, usu at the crescendo.
(B) ever notice the presence of the tube dats part of the vacuum cleaner? know wat its for? yes, its for you to sing to - its your mike + mike stand.
imagine: bending down doing the back-breaking (literally) job of vacuuming the whole house's* floor, mumbling why you have to do this in between singing to the song dats playing. slowly, the song builds up and reaches the crescendo and you stand up straight (holding the mike + mike stand) in your hand and sing/shout/croak your lungs out at the top of your voice, ever so loudly and without reservations coz no one else can hear you (coz 1. no one's at home 2. the vacuum cleaner's sound drowns your voice), occasionally waving your hands to your imaginary fans for effect. shiok.
*you have to vacuum the whole house's floors and not juz your own room's, coz dat wld be selfish, and more imptly, you need to build a crescendo in your process of doing housework as well. if you vacuum only your puny room (unless your room is as big as my whole house), then before you know it, you've already finished vacuuming liaoz, even before the song reaches any crescendo.. so all the floors in the house.
finally, the songs to belt out to when doing housework:
(1) forever love - leehom
(2) 我爱你 - she
(3) 黑色幽默 - jay
(4) 超快感 - sunyanzi (recommended by a friend. haven tried it myself)
(5) inside your heaven - cant decide if the bo or carrie version is betta
p/s: for those of you who do housework, you wld know wat im talking abt eh? any good suggestions for songs-to-belt-out-to-when-doing-housework?

monday

moved stuff from present school to holding school. both my department and cca were moving on the same day, so i waz in school the whole day. then went for josh mcdowell talk. he reminded me of the importance of relationships. hence, i waz re-motivated to prioritise the building of meaningful relationships, upon which all other things are built on. and not get swept away by the swarm of work and life's other pressures day in day out.

tuesday

had to prepare for the big move on wednesday - printing out all the movement plans and route maps for different classes, confirming all the transport arrangements and reminding all my student helpers to be on time. initially, i thought i would be able to leave in the afternoon. however, in the end, i only left school around 1930 hr, coz the cd-rom had some trouble, and we had to stay back to settle it. then one of my colleagues had to bring home the conference room keys, and he had to trot all the way back from hougang to bedok (he already reached home liaoz!) to lock up the room. then we had dinner.

wednesday

the big move. din really sleep well. kept waking up. woke up at 0500 hr in the end. reached school to paste masking tapes on the parade square to tell the kids where to sit. then i helped set up the reception and gave out the necessary stuff to the home teachers. the parade went on as planned. thank God the buses and london cabs came on time, and did not cause any hiccups to the parade. then it waz the move. thank God that the teachers and students were all co-operative and helpful (like taking classes which are not their home class) and the move went on smoothly - no one met with any mishaps or waz stranded or lost. then it waz over to the holding school, where everything waz fine except the cheers sounded really weak and lifeless. then it waz a whole afternoon of after action review (aar). till 1700 hr, after which i had to rush down to my cca chalet. thank God my colleague sent me there. i waz super late (they met at 1500 to go - i only arrived around 1800+). went to bbq pit for food. students did everything. im proud of them. thankful to the teachers for helping out too. mingled around with the students. had a mini ceremony thanking the secondary 4 students. students left. had a really long talk (0130 - 0630) with one of my students.

thursday

had breakfast at changi village. played frisbee. tried to sleep, but couldnt. went for lunch at changi village. went back, played some games and ultimate frisbee. ordered pizza for dinner. bought ice-cream for the kids. played frisbee again. had a meeting with committee members, of sorts. supposed to be bonding session, but alot werent around. went to buy food for kids. went cycling. packed up/cleaned up. slept for an hr+.

friday

checked out. really thankful for the students who had initiative and were helpful. went home, slept a little. went johor bahru. watched the chronicles of narnia. ate seafood. (i like crayfish!) came back. slept like mad till 1500 hr.

saturday

woke up. went to watch king kong. went block 85 for supper. came back. blogged.

sunday (predicted)

church. lunch. ntuc. pack room. dinner. chill out. sleep.

it waz a really hectic and eventful and stressful week. waz bz everyday of the week. had to plan for the move and the chalet, and made sure things went on as they were supposed to. had many things to look out for. waz praying really hard, and am really thankful that God brought me through each day of this week, with all its challenges and stresses. with my limited self, i cldnt have completed everything well. but God gave me the strength and wisdom, as well as the help from different pples ard me. waz really really thankful. ALL GLORY TO GOD!

for apart from me you can do nothing. - john 15:5.
