i guess we all learn many lessons during the course of our passage through earth and time into heaven and eternity. some of these lessons were learnt subconsciously, and stoopid us only found out like mabbe 10,000 yrs later, whereas some were learnt consciously, as an act of the will. still others were learnt the hard way, and some the soft way. in any case, this yr alone, ive learnt many lessons, and i shall attempt to highlight some of them in my little blog here.
once upon a time, there waz a boy. he waz a rather nice boy, likeable and all, except that there waz something peculiar about him -- he had a pair of green shorts. if you think you know all about this boy just because you see the words "green shorts", you are sorely wrong, or wrongly sorry. because the peculiarity of it all was not the green shorts, but that the green shorts had pockets with holes. *gasp*
as such, as this boy walked along in life, from place to place, gold coins kept dropping out of his pockets until one day, all the gold coins were gone. (you might, at this point in time, like to ask what happened to the gold coins that dropped along the way. well, if you are a faithful hansel and gretel fan, you would know that they were picked up by... somebody *surprise!* hahah, gotcha! kaypoh..)
anyway, continuing on from the coinless pocket of the boy, it became so bad that one day, he had no more coins to take a bus home. so he walked home, which he was not too unhappy about, since he liked to walk around. it waz precisely because he loved walking around that the gold coins dropped everywhere. if not, his coins would only have dropped in his house.
and due to an unforeseen spate of events, somehow, some of the boy's friends found out about his predicament.
[when an author writes about "unforeseen" circumstances, its either
1. he is just super smoking out and has no idea what silly but convincing "unforeseen" circumstance to come up with; or
2. the "unforeseen" circumstance is just too surreal to be put into words, and even if put into words, most people would find it hard to believe. in fact, sometimes even the author finds it hard to swallow the truth of the "unforeseen" circumstances that he does not want to write it down.]
[now, if you (once again) think (smart alec-ly) that you know for sure this whole story is about the boy, you are (once again) sorely wrong, and wrongly sorry. for the central theme of this story is the boy's friends, and as such, they shall be promoted to begin with caps for the rest of the story --
Friends.]
so one of the boy's
Friends decided to take the initiative to raise some funds for the boy, aptly named the "Love_Boy Fund". he pooled together some of the boy's closest
Friends (who have since become even closer to the boy) to chip in some gold coins for the boy. then they gave the gold coins to the boy. the boy waz very shocked, but at the same time filled with gratitude, at the gesture. the boy waz not dying of starvation or thirst from the lack of food, nor did he not have a roof over his head, and as such did not warrant such attention from his
Friends. but that act of showing concern and going the extra mile made the boy really thankful to God for this group of
Friends. in fact, he is so thankful that he does not know how best to express his gratitude -- to express his gratitude, in any form, would not do any justice to what these
Friends had done for him, and what it meant for him...
no wonder in chinese there is a saying that goes... 雪中送炭。
